Photo caption: Dubai International made an impressive addition to its already long list of ‘world- firsts’ on Tuesday evening by welcoming the first ever commercial flight of Luxembourg-based Cargolux Airline’s next generation Boeing 747-8. The 747-8 freighter is 5.7 meters longer than the 747-400 freighter but the weight of the aircraft is reduced through the use of advanced composites leading to lower maintenance costs. Cargolux Airlines is the launch customer for the Boeing 747-8 freighter with a total of 13 of the aircraft on order.
