FAQ's


What will the passenger trials entail and what do I have to do?
The passenger trials will simulate the full operation of the new Concourse A, which is the latest extension to Terminal 3. In order to do this, each volunteer will be asked to carry out carefully scripted scenarios from checking in for a flight and using various food and beverage facilities, to connecting to another simulated flight. You will be presented with your script to role play at the start of the day and you will be fully briefed before the trial begins.

When can I try out the new facilities?
We have passenger trial scheduled for the December 22, 2012.

How do I sign up?
You can sign up by filling out the online application form provided together with copies of your passport and residence visa.

How will you contact me?
We will contact you by either e-mail or on your mobile phone, first to confirm   your registration and then to provide details of where and when you will be needed on the day of the trial.

Can I bring my friends and family?
Yes. Children are also welcome to take part but must be accompanied by an adult. Each and every volunteer – including children – must fill in the online form.

 Why are my passport details needed?
You will be entering the controlled area of the airport usually reserved for arriving or departing passengers. Therefore every volunteer will have to undergo certain security checks and be issued an airport pass by Dubai Police. The pass permits you to enter this controlled area.

Do children need apply for an airport pass?
Yes, they do. One form must be filled in per family member.

Do I need my passport on the day?
Yes, it is recommended you bring your passport for identification purposes when issuing the airport pass to you on the day of the trial.

Can I bring my camera?
Unfortunately cameras will not be allowed during the trials for security reasons.

Can I bring my mobile phone?
Yes but you may not use it to take photos.

Where do I go on the day of the trial?
Further information will be provided to you on email and SMS closer to the trial date.

Where do I park?
Every volunteer will be given free parking. Further information of where you will be able to park will be provided to you closer to the trial date.

What time will the trial start and finish?
Further information will be provided to you closer to the trial date, but typically the trial will start around 10am and finish by 2pm – you will be required to register at 8.45am.

How long will it take?
The trials will take about half a day, and we recommend you make appropriate arrangements for any unexpected delays.

Do I have to pay an entrance fee?
No, there will be no entrance fees.

Will I be rewarded with anything?
Each volunteer will be provided with a gift bag of memorabilia as well as a 10 per cent discount on selected items at Dubai Duty Free’s outlets in Terminal 3’s arrival hall.

Will we be flying anywhere?
No. You will remain in the terminal buildings only.

Will refreshments be provided?
Yes, refreshments will be provided. Details will be posted closer to the trial date.

Can you provide handicap or special assistance?
Yes, handicap and special assistance will be provided. We would like to encourage any passengers with restricted mobility to participate in the trials so that we can ensure the facilities cater for all of Dubai International’s valued customers.

Will there be any medical or first aid facilities?
Yes, there will be several medical facilities throughout Terminal 3 and Concourse A. There will also be experienced doctors and medical staff on site.

Will the restaurants be open?
Yes, some of the new food and beverage outlets in Concourse A will be open.

Will there be any dedicated smoking areas? No, there will be no smoking areas inside the concourse. However once you are outside the passenger-controlled area and have completed the trial, there will be the regular dedicated smoking areas outside Terminal 3.

Will there be toilets?
Yes, there are toilets all over Terminal 3 and Concourse A.

What kind of clothing should I wear?
We recommend you wear something comfortable.
