Dubai Airports owns and manages the operation and development of both of Dubai’s airports – Dubai International as well as the upcoming Dubai World Central — Al Maktoum International.

DUBAI INTERNATIONAL
Dubai International is the 6th busiest airport in the world in terms of international passenger traffic volumes offering connections to over 210 destinations across six continents on more than 125 airlines. Between January and October 2009 Dubai International handled 33,565,105 passengers, up 8.3% over the same period in 2008. It is the 5th busiest airport in terms of international freight volumes with over 1.8 million tonnes annually in 2008. Between January and October 2009, Dubai Airports Cargo handled a total of 1,552,748 tonnes of freight, compared to 1,519,327 tonnes during the same period in 2008, an increase of 2.2 per cent.

The Emirates Airline-dedicated Terminal 3 which completed its first anniversary in October 2009, has doubled Dubai International’s operational capacity to 60 million passengers per year, a figure that will increase to 75 million with the completion of the now under-construction A380-dedicated airside facility. The opening of Terminal 3 on October 14, 2008 is widely acknowledged as the most successful launch of a terminal of its size.

DUBAI WORLD CENTRAL – AL MAKTOUM INTERNATIONAL
Work is already in progress on a project to build the world’s largest airport 40 kilometres away from Dubai International. Upon completion Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International will have capacity to cater to 160 million passengers annually and handle 12 million tonnes of cargo.
