DCA to conduct full scale emergency drill at Dubai International Airport

Dubai Department of Civil Aviation will conduct a full scale emergency drill at Dubai International Airport on May 7, starting 11 am.

The exercise provides an opportunity for the response teams from the DCA's various directorates, including airport operations, maintenance, as well as security, fire, police, and medical services, to put their emergency training to the test. The drill will also measure the preparedness of local emergency response units that assist Dubai International Airport in a real crisis.

To add a sense of reality to the drill, scores of volunteers will act as injured passengers and flight crew. Employees from the Airport operations, maintenance, security, fire and police divisions will respond and participate in the drill.

The drill encompasses all aspects of emergency response, including evacuation and rescue, fire fighting, security, medical services, and communications.

The exercise is expected to run for approximately three hours and will not affect normal operations at the airport.

DCA has advised residents of the airport area and businesses not to be alarmed if they see increased activity during the mock drill. DCA will however make advance announcements regarding the mock drill on the airport's PA system to ensure passengers are not alarmed due to the mock drill.
