The rise in volume of freight handled by Dubai Cargo gateway over the years definitively demonstrates the Village’s massive growth in capacity and area and its development into the regional cargo hub it has become today.
DCG Freight Summary
(from 1978 to 2005)
A monthly comparison for recent cargo figures registered in 2006 and 2007 exhibit a consistent growth in uplifted/discharged cargo volume.
- Cargo City handled a record Total of 145,372.81 tonnes for the month of Sep. 2007 as compared to handling 132,753.32 tonnes in Sep. 2006 showing a growth of 9.51%.
- Import and Export increased by 9.09% to 138,805.69 tonnes in Sep. 2007 from 127,236.84 tonnes in Sep. 2006.
- Trans shipmments increased by 9.51% to 75,230.43 tonnes in Sep. 2007 from 69,230.43 tonnes in Sep 2006.
- The figures show the total volume of courier and mail which is 19.05% to 6,567.12 in Sep. 2007 from 5,516.48 in Sep. 2006.
- From January to September 2007, Dubai Cargo City handled 1,133,676 tonnes, up 11% over 2006.
