In recognition of its quality management system, world-class facilities, and effective administration, Cargo Gateway at Dubai International has earned some of the most prestigious honorary and industry awards. It is anticipated that after the inauguration of the new Mega Terminal, many new features will be added to the facility, making it one of a kind cargo hub in the world. When the cargo division became operational in 1991, it was ranked 65th in the world; today it occupies 17th position. With an average growth rate of 16-20%, the ranking will clearly rise. DCG has won 26 awards to date, as follows:
1992: Best Air Cargo Airport in the world (TIACA)
Right from the first year, Cargo Gateway won its maiden award, “Best Air Cargo Airport” in the world from TIACA (The International Air Cargo Association), whose mission is to advance the interests of the air cargo industry and strengthen its contribution to world trade expansion.
1993-2007: Best Air Cargo Airport in the Middle East (AFSCA)
In 2007, and for the 13th consecutive year, Cargo Gateway won the Asian Freight and Supply Chain Award (AFSCA), formerly known as the Asian Freight Industry Award (AFIA), for Dubai International Airport; the airport was voted ‘Best Airport Middle East’ for its outstanding cargo facilities and services.
1995: Golden Award of Excellence
In 995, Cargo Gateway won the most coveted Golden Award for Excellence at the Festivale Co-operation Internationale Sans Frontieres in Morocco - Casablanca held in September of 1995 and organised and sponsored by Golden International Corporation. The award was adjudged by panel of judges from international organisations representing the global cargo industry including various international airports. DCV was particularly commended for its high-tech cargo handling.
1998: ISO 9002
Quality and efficient service have always been key priorities at Cargo Gateway ever since it was founded in 1991. In 1998, the Cargo Gateway initiated concerted efforts to develop a quality management system which could ensure the highest standard of services and facility on an ongoing basis. As a result, and on 27 October 1998, the Gateway became the Middle East’s first cargo handling facility to be awarded an ISO 9002 certificate by Lloyd's Register of Quality Assurance.
2001: Best Department - Dubai Government Excellence Program
By offering high standards of service and exceptional facilities, Cargo Gateway has built on its foundation for success to earn the honor of receiving, in 1998, the Certificate for Excellence in Government Performance by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The Certificate was awarded to Cargo Gateway for its successful endeavor to develop a quality management system which won ISO 9002 accreditation by Lloyd’s Register of Quality Assurance.
2003-2007: Best Air Cargo Airport in the Middle East
For four consecutive years, Cargo Gateway won the Air Cargonews UK Award for ‘Best Air Cargo Airport Middle East’ for its cargo facilities and services. Readers of Air Cargonews UK, a leading freight industry newspaper, were individually balloted and asked to vote for the organization they thought were the best service providers in different industry-specific categories.
2006-2007: MELA (Middle East Logistics Awards)
In 2006 and 2007, Cargo Gateway received ‘The Best Air Cargo Terminal Award’ at the annual Middle East Logistics Awards (MELA) in Dubai, UAE.
